Lundbeck‘s Pentobarbital kills its 49th patient in Ohio on April 18th, 2012 and its 50th patient in Delaware on April 20th, 2012
The state of Ohio killed for the 47th time since it resumed executions in 1999, and has slated 11 more deaths. Mark Wiles concluded his last statement: “Finally, the state of Ohio should not be in the business of killing its citizens”. He was pronounced dead at 10:42am on April 18, 2012. He was 49 years old.
The state of Delaware granted Shannon Johnson his last wish: state assisted suicide on April 20, 2012. After a heated legal debate among those who insisted on saving his life against his wish, his only possible choice on death row, a stay of execution previously granted was lifted, and despite Johnson’s documented history of mental illness, he was executed. In his last statement, he declared: “Loyalty is important. Without loyalty you have nothing. Death before dishonor”. He was pronounced dead at 2:55am. Johnson was 28 years old.
