The International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists (IACP) must undertake some serious ethical work and engage its members to stop supplying departments of corrections with the killing drugs.
Its mission statement establishes, “Millions of patients have unique health needs that off-the-shelf, manufactured medications cannot meet. For these patients, personalized medication solutions – prescribed by licensed practitioners and prepared by trained, licensed pharmacists – are the only way to better health.” and we are certainly happy about the intention, but now we need action to demonstrate truthfulness.
According to its website, the IACP code of ethics also states, “The Code of Ethics of the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists establishes minimum standards of conduct and may change to address ethical problems that arise due to advancing knowledge, technology, and legal and regulatory changes.” so guess what? Now is the best possible time to do just that!
We encourage you to sign, promote and share the petition calling on David Miller, Executive Vice President and CEO of the IACP and Dagmar Climo, Director of marketing and communications for the IACP, to take an unequivocal ethical stand and ask its members to refuse orders for execution drugs from departments of corrections.
